Schedule diversity

Talk about the Chicago Wolves, the AHL, and other hockey in general here. Not hockey? Head outside to The Great Outdoors.

Note: The old message board is officially dead. They took away the old version of PHP, meaning it won't run, and I didn't have enough time to try to upgrade to the new version. You will need to re-register to post!

Schedule diversity

Post by wolves01 »

Watching Pigs vs. Silver Nights on AHL TV. Rockford announcer talking about Knights flying into MDW yesterday and dealing with traffic to get to Rockford.

Can anyone confirm why we never see teams like that? Levin doesn't want to pay for travel? Just curious

When the Pacific five forced the west coast conference, the Wolves official stance was that they wouldn't play them because they played less games than us. Weird, but okay. (Yet, Iowa, Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids all played a couple teams) The following year the reason given was that playing non-divisional opponents so close to the playoff stretch run would disrupt the team chemistry (the AHL wanted to schedule a Cali trip in late Feb or March). Also a weird reason, but whatever (different Cali teams played Iowa, MKE, and GR).

Then we finally got a couple different opponents, but the reason given was the Wolves wanted to focus on divisional play.

So that's been the reasons given why we don't see diversity on the schedule.

Here's been the breakdown since the Pacific division was formed:
(15-16) Wolves: No
Iowa - Stockton
Milwaukee - Bakersfield, San Diego
Grand Rapids - Bakersfield, San Diego

(16-17) Wolves - No
Iowa - Ontario and San Diego
Milwaukee - San Jose, Stockton
Grand Rapids - San Jose, Stockton

(17-18) Wolves - Ontario, San DIego, Tucson
Iowa - Bakersfield, Ontario, Tucson, San Diego
Milwaukee - Ontario, San Jose, Stockton (and Hershey and Wilkes-Barre)
Grand Rapids - Ontario, San Jose, Stockton (and Hershey and Wilkes-Barre)

(18-19) Wolves - Colorado, Tucson
Iowa - Colorado, Bakersfield, San Diego, San Jose, Ontario, Tucson, Stockton
Milwaukee - Ontario, San DIego (and Hershey and Wilkes-Barre)
Grand Rapids - Ontario, San Jose (and Belleville, Hershey, and Wilkes-Barre)

(19-20) Wolves - Tucson
Iowa - Bakersfield, Ontario, San Diego, Stockton, Tucson
Milwaukee - Colorado (and Belleville and Laval)
Grand Rapids - Bakersfield, San Deigo (and Belleville)

(20-21) No one played out of division opponents.

(21-22) Wolves - Toronto (first time since the 14-15 season, before the Pacific division was formed)
Iowa - Colorado, Henderson, San Diego, Tucson
Milwaukee - Colorado
Grand Rapids - Ontario, Bakersfield (and Toronto).

*edit* I forgot to look up Rockford. Will add them later.
